Keep It Green 2014
Newsletter 67# – 06 May 2017
Colleagues
Just a quick follow up newsletter to keep you all informed of the Barnsley Local Plan Examination process.
Stage 1 of the Local Plan Examination in Public Hearings will be held on 16/17/18 May 2017 and
23/24/25 May 2017.
The hearings will start at 10.00am and take place at The Core building on County Way, Barnsley, S70 2JW.
The hearing sessions are open to all to observe but only those who have previously made representations and who register to attend have a right to participate
Keep It Green representatives have registered and will be participating at the hearings.
The appointed Planning Inspector Sarah Housden BA (Hons) MRTPI, issued a briefing noted dated 06/04/17 which sets down the procedures to be followed at hearing sessions.
The briefing note also invited those who had made representations to the Local Plan Publication Draft 2016, to submit hearing statements on the questions asked in a further paper on Stage 1 Main Matters, Issues and Questions (MIQ’s).
Keep It Green has examined the MIQ’s paper and submitted 4 hearing statements on the following main matters:-
Main Matter 1 – An Overview of the Soundness of the Barnsley Local Plan
Main Matter 2 -Vision and objectives and Barnsley’s role in the Sheffield and Leeds City Regions
Main Matter 3 – Objectively assessed need for employment
Main Matter 4 – Objectively assessed need for housing.
Copies of all the hearing statements submitted by participants are to be made available by the council on the Local Plan examination timeline website which can be viewed at www.barnsley.gov.uk/local-plan-examination.
The timeline webpage also gives details of all the correspondence between the Planning Inspector and the council.
Recent correspondence dated 24/04/17 and 02/05/17 indicate that the Inspector has proposed that the Stage 2 hearings timetable be amended in view of the forthcoming general election. Copies of the correspondence can be viewed on the timeline webpage, but it does appear that some of the Stage 2 hearings could be delayed to October 2017.
Keep it Green will monitor the position and will continue to keep its supporters aware of relevant issues.
